Iran Crushes Costa Rica 5-0 in Dominant Friendly Performance in Antalya

In a dominant display during their second friendly match of the Turkey training camp, the Iran national football team secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Costa Rica. The match took place on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Antalya Stadium, where Amir Ghalenoei’s side delivered a masterclass performance, particularly in a high-intensity first half.

Iran applied heavy pressure from the opening whistle, netting four goals before the interval. The deadlock was broken in the 11th minute by Ali Gholizadeh, following a precise assist from Amirhossein Hosseinzadeh. In the 19th minute, Mehdi Taremi doubled the lead with a clinical penalty kick.

The relentless offensive continued as Mohammad Mohebi added a third in the 31st minute, assisted by Taremi. Just three minutes later, Taremi secured his brace by converting a second penalty in the 34th minute, sending Iran into the locker room with a commanding 4-0 halftime lead.

The second half saw Iran maintain complete control of the tempo. In the 54th minute, Mehdi Ghayedi found the back of the net with a precise strike from inside the box, making it 5-0. Costa Rica struggled to create any significant threats throughout the game, remaining largely pinned back by Iran’s organized tactical setup.

This convincing victory serves as a major morale booster for the national team ahead of their upcoming official fixtures. Iran showcased excellent offensive coordination and tactical discipline, ending their preparation camp in Turkey on a high note.
