Bayern Munich 5-1 FC Köln
Bundesliga – Matchday 34
Sunday, 16 May 2026 – Allianz Arena, Munich
Bayern Munich capped off their dominant 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign with a thrilling 5-1 victory over FC Köln and a spectacular championship celebration at the Allianz Arena. The German giants were officially crowned champions for the 35th time in their history, lifting the famous Meisterschale in front of over 75,000 ecstatic fans.
Although Bayern had mathematically secured the title four weeks earlier, the final matchday provided the perfect stage for a full-scale party. The players, coaching staff, and club officials delivered an unforgettable night filled with emotion, fireworks, and pure Bavarian pride.
Match Summary
Bayern dominated from the first whistle and were already 3-0 up by half-time. Harry Kane opened the scoring with a penalty, followed by goals from Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané. In the second half, Köln pulled one back, but Bayern responded with two more goals from Kingsley Coman and Thomas Müller to make it 5-1.
The result was secondary, however. All eyes were on the post-match ceremony.
The Championship Celebration
Immediately after the final whistle, the Allianz Arena transformed into a sea of red and white. A massive stage was set up in the centre of the pitch as red flares lit up the sky and the famous “Stern des Südens” anthem echoed around the stadium.
Highlights of the Ceremony:
Captain Manuel Neuer led the team out wearing special champion shirts.
Club president Herbert Hainer and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen delivered emotional speeches thanking the fans and players.
Harry Kane, in his first season as Bayern captain, was given the honour of lifting the Meisterschale (the silver championship plate) high above his head. The moment triggered an enormous roar from the crowd and a spectacular fireworks display.
All the players took turns holding the trophy and parading it around the pitch, singing and dancing with the ultras in the Südkurve.
Special tributes were paid to retiring legends and long-serving players, with emotional moments shared between teammates and their families who joined them on the pitch.
The celebrations continued late into the night with a huge open-top bus parade through Munich, ending at Marienplatz where thousands of fans gathered for a public party.
What This Title Means
This is Bayern’s 35th Bundesliga title and their 13th in the last 14 seasons — a staggering display of dominance in German football. Under Vincent Kompany, Bayern recovered strongly after a difficult previous campaign and finished the season with a record-breaking goal tally and a 16-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
The victory also secures their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League group stage, allowing them to focus fully on European glory next year.
For the fans, this night was the perfect ending to another successful domestic campaign. The atmosphere at Allianz Arena and the streets of Munich showed once again why Bayern Munich remains one of the most loved and supported clubs in world football.
